Early life and Family
Born on September 24, at martyr land popularly known as Shaheed Udham Singh Wala, Sunam, near the border of Haryana in Sangrur district of Punjab. His mother Smt. Dashna Kansal, is a Social Activist and Politician. She has been Senior Vice President Municipal Council, Sunam and former Distt. President and State Secretary, BJP (Mahila Morcha). His father, Shri Bhagwan Daas Kansal, has been Distt. Cashier, BJP Sangrur and Distt. President, BJP (Transport Cell), Sangrur
Education
He has outstanding academic credentials throughout his education. He obtained his Doctorate in Political Science from Punjabi University, Patiala. His thesis research was on “Akali Alliances in Punjab Since 1967” which had been hailed and acclaimed by various political scholars at different platforms. He completed three Master’s degrees in Political Science, Journalism Mass Communication, and Distance education with distinction from various recognized Institutions and Universities. He is also graduate in Law.
Current Endeavours
Dr. Kansal has been associated with college teaching for more than twenty years. He is an acclaimed and celebrated social scientist in the field of Political Science and has been associated with prestigious organizations like National Service Scheme, Indian Red Cross Society, RUSA, UGC, IGNOU and Rotary. Currently, He has been working as Independent Director, NHPC, Ministry of Power, Govt. Of India. He is also member of Academic Counsel, IGNOU, Ministry of Education, Govt. Of India. He is founder and CEO of Kansal Foundation for Education, Skill Development and Employment. As a Chairman and Managing Director of Nirman Campus of Education, Research and Training. He has playing an instrumental role to desseminate the education among an underprivileged school and college dropouts. While working with rural disadvantageous youth, More than 5 Thousand students educated and trained in various fields and enhancing their skill to make them self dependent. Several started their startups and living good life. He is playing an epitomised role to make Atamnirbhar Bharat. He is running mass movement “Nasha Mukat Punjab”
Besides, above, Dr. Kansal is also Director (Administration & Academics) in Krishna Group of Institutions, Ralli (Buddha). He is involved in social causes, especially in the field of Education and the protection of the Environment. He is also serving as Managing Director of Nirman Campus of Education Research and Training, Sunam, Punjab.
Organizational and Social Presence
Due to his strenous and selfless efforts , he is most popular as a professor, social acitivist and human being among all walks of life. Having faith on his leadership, he had been assgined various coveted positions such as State Vice President, ABVP Punjab, State Executive Member Vidya Bharti Punjab, State Executive Member Baba Aapte Sahib Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Punjab, Social Media Convener of Lok Sabha Sangrur, Distt. Coordiantor, Swadeshi Jagran Manch Sangrur, Distt. Coordinator College Vidyarthi Pramukh (RSS Sangrur), National Media Convener, Siksha Mahakumbh, organized by Vidya Bharti Punjab. He has also been Lok Sabha Prachar Pramukh, during the State Assembly Election 2022, Punjab

His various publications displays his strong academic acumen. He has various publications under his name. Books like Foreign Policy of India, Punjab Politics, Research Methodoligies in Social Sciences, to name a few, that has been authored by him. He presented his research work at various platforms, and published various scientific papers in the reputed journals.
Role at NHPC
Dr Amit Kansal joined the Board of NHPC under Ministry of Power, Govt. of India as Independent Director in November, 2021. He is presiding important Committees like Risk Management Committee, Committee of Directors- Appellate Authority & Member of Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Sustainability, Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Stakeholders’ Relationship Committee, Committee for approval of devitions/variations in the Contracts
approved by the Board. He is contributing in decision making by attending all meeting of BoD & visiting Projects regularly
